By artist alumnus Chris Duncan Available in unique shapes and sizes.
Celebrating our 15th Anniversary of CHAIRity, our “crystal/glass anniversary,” this series was created with molten glass blown into molds. Due to the process and craftsmanship, each is completely unique and can function as a vessel, vase or handsome table-top sculpture. After six drafts, Duncan created one final piece in steel and plaster to be used as a mold. Dan Buckingham from Sculpture Space, master glass artist Erik Halvorson from Hartwick College and Duncan worked together for two days to produce 30 glass sculptures. “I loved the process itself and I’m very pleased with the results, which have the solidity and tactility that I look for in my sculpture, but introduce new fluid qualities that could only come from glass. I look forward to doing more work in the medium, and I want to thank Sculpture Space for providing me with the incentive and the opportunity to try something new. Of course, that’s what they do every day for the many artists lucky enough to work there, and that’s why we are doing what we can to support them now.” -Chris Duncan
