Cayan Library/SUNY Institute of Technology
In recognition of the 30th anniversary of Sculpture Space, SUNYIT is launched an inaugural sculpture installation in the Peter J. Cayan Library featuring selected works by Sculpture Space alumnus, Rainer Maria Wehner, a native of Munich, Germany. Wehner creates structures of glass and fabricated steel that incorporate radiation technology to explore issues of intimacy and bring to light topics of social, historical and political significance. Selected x-rays allow a view into the interior of a living person, but render them anonymous. Wehner’s involvement with the x-rays also explores human intimacy in a technical and growing virtual world. He has exhibited his work in the United States and abroad, and has permanent installations in the US (Utica) and Germany. Artist’s Talk and Reception: Introduction by Sydney Waller, Sculpture Space Executive Director; and Pamela Matt, SUNYIT Director of Development; March 28, 2006.
