Sculpture Space, an international artist residency program, is seeking applications for its first-ever “Archivist-in-Residence” for the “Pearl, Prizes & Treasures: Highlights of Public Art from Oneida County” initiative, as funded by Oneida County’s 2015 Partners in Prosperity program.
The “Archivist-in-Residence” will locate, research, document, describe, design and create a database, website and assist in the production of a spiral-bound publication, online interactive map and mobile phone app (in collaboration with technology/design consultant).
Starting Fall 2015, this part-time 12-month position pays $25,000 and offers flexible scheduling. In addition to salary, this opportunity includes temporary housing as needed while conducting research in Oneida County, a mileage/travel allowance and access to office equipment (telephone, printer, scanner, etc.).
The ideal “Archivist-in-Residence” will be a collaborative professional team member, possessing positive energy and sincere enthusiasm for the initiative as a whole.
She/he will also have:
- expertise and/or interest in public art;
- awareness of research methodologies;
- ability to forge connections with nonarts professionals and community members,
- experience with web-based software;
- fluency with Excel, InDesign/Publisher, cloud-based database and mapping software;
- understanding of publication design and production;
- excellent writing and public speaking skills;
- laptop/computer, reliable vehicle and valid Driver’s License.
40% research, locate, document public artworks
30% create and maintain database, including photos, text, videos, online map, mobile phone app
20% assistance with production of spiral-bound publication
10% social media and other public outreach marketing/publicity
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS degree in art history, history, library science, studio art or related field (Masters degree a plus); familiarity with upstate New York/Oneida County.
