Mohawk Valley residents and out-of-town visitors are invited to Sculpture Space’s renowned 14th Annual Mardi Gras Party, March 1 from 7-11 p.m. at Hotel Utica in downtown Utica. As always, this promises to be a unique benefit and fabulous party, made possible in part by support from generous local and international sponsors.
Admission includes a cash beer/wine bar (and specialty signature drink), authentic Cajun delicacies, costume contest (prizes include framed hand-signed Christo print), silent auction (with artwork by local artists and Sculpture Space alumni), interactive artmaking happenings and other surprises as well. Back by popular demand, Captain Squeeze and the Zydeco Moshers will ensure that “le bon temps roulez” and as always, the Catskill Puppet Theatre’s giant dancing marionettes will be parading in and through the festivities.
“Now in its 14th year, Sculpture Space is pleased to host its annual Mardi Gras at the Hotel Utica — a venue that truly evokes New Orleans’ Bourbon Street in all of its Fat Tuesday glory — with zydeco-inspired and crawfish-fueled merriment. Just when you think winter will never end, this distinctive fundraiser will transport you to the Big Easy: whether you come wild or mild, in costume or in street clothes, dance on the floor or on the platforms, the point is to revel in creative energy, celebrate time-honored traditions and show your support for art and artists,” states Monika Burczyk, Executive Director.
Tickets are on sale now for $40 per person or $70 for two tickets at ticketderby.com. To reserve over the phone, call Sculpture Space at 315-724-8381.
