Sculpture Space, the International Artist-in-Residency program located in Utica, NY, announces the departure of Sydney Waller who has served as the non-profit organization’s Executive Director for more than eight years. “We are sincerely grateful for her many contributions to the organization and the great progress that’s been made during her term, said Board President, Victoria Zacek, "and we wish to point out her substantial legacies which include the International Sculpture Garden at Griffiss Business Park in Rome, NY, and the artists’ residency building". Ms. Waller is now focusing on building her multi-arts consulting business and gallery in Cooperstown, NY.
Sculpture Space is pleased to announce the appointment of Monika Burczyk as Interim Director and plans to initiate a search for a permanent Executive Director. Ms. Burczyk began her term on January 16, 2012, she brings with her an extensive background in contemporary art, community outreach and art education having worked at several highly regarded art institutions, including Pratt Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute (Utica, NY), Stone Quarry Hill Art Park (Cazenovia, NY) and the Picker Art Gallery (Colgate University, Hamilton, NY). For the past nine years, she has also served as Lecturer in University Studies at Colgate University. Ms. Burczyk received her BFA in Painting/Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and also holds an MA in Art Therapy and PhD in Art Education from New York University.
