Sculpture Space, located in Utica, New York invites Central New York-based artists, whose focus is sculpture, to apply for a 9-month studio residency between March and December 2018.
Since 1976, Sculpture Space has helped to support the careers and studio practice of over 550 national and international artists from around the world. The collaborative environment of the studio and the communal aspects of the residence help foster dialogue, exchange of ideas, creative experimentation and both personal and professional connections. In addition to the CHAIRity fundraiser in September/October, the public is invited to Works in Progress receptions (held every few months).
We offer a 5,500 square foot shared studio with specialized equipment. Basic understanding and communication skills in English are necessary. Working with the Studio Manager, this volunteer Studio Resident will be responsible for up to 12-hours of work per week. Additional work will be required for a few specific events during the year. This position will receive 24/7 access to this world-class studio to help further their creative process and work. The Studio Resident will be responsible for their own materials and specialized equipment. Housing and transportation will not be provided.
Artists will be reviewed by the Artist Review Committee, final candidates will be subject to an in-person interview and will be notified late February of the committee’s decision. Primary criteria for selection are based on quality of work, the willingness to engage with staff and fellow artists, and ability to work with the Studio Manager to arrange an appropriate work schedule.
Applications are accepted from January 1, 2017 – February 16, 2018.

- Image script (include title, date, media, dimensions; for video/ interdisciplinary/performance or other work, please include any helpful/descriptive information for review panel);
