Hyeon Jung Kim was born in Seoul, Korea. Kim received her MFA at Cranbrook Academy of Art, BFA at School of the Art Institute of Chicago and studied Fine Art and History of Art at University of London at Goldsmiths College. She was a recipient of SAIC Fellowship Award in 2009 and Korean American Scholarship Foundation in 2008 and 2012. Kim has been exhibited at various galleries and festivals including NEXT, Art Chicago, Milwaukee Avenue Art Festival, Chicago Art Open, Roxaboxen, Bridge Gallery, and Abryant Gallery in Chicago, Illinois, Wassaic Projects Summer Festival in Wassaic, New York, Woolen Mill Gallery in Reedsburg, Wisconsin and Butter Projects in Royal Oak, Michigan. Kim attended Vermont Studio Center, Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, Colorado Art Ranch, Artists' Cooperative Residency and Exhibitions, and Djerassi Resident Artists Program. Kim currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
