Janelle Iglesias
Richmond, VA
Residency: January – February 2007
Janelle Iglesias used the time at Sculpture Space to experiment with a variety of materials — plastics, controlled light, shadows and movement. weft and warp, a collaborative installation at Binghamton University that she produced with her sister, Lisa Iglesias, was the result of her experiments with fake hair. Iglesias received a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Emory University in 2002 and an MFA in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she was awarded a Graduate Thesis/Dissertation Fellowship for her final year. She shares a studio in New York City with her sister, Lisa, who makes up the other half of their collaborative duo, Las Hermanas Iglesias.
