 Megan Michalak

Brooklyn, NY
Residency: April – May 2006

Megan Michalak works in video and installation to investigate how social space shapes identity. She constructs and reenacts narratives that mine collective anxieties and fantasies found in docudramas, magical realism, the news and horror movies. Michalak received her MFA from Bard College in 2001. She has exhibited at Artists Space, Dance Theater Workshop and Smack Mellon in New York City, the Art Interactive in Boston, and the San Francisco Cinematheque. She is the recipient of several grants and residencies and has exhibited internationally. The work made during her residency at Sculpture Space appeared at the Smack Mellon Gallery in Brooklyn, NY in 2006. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
