"I am part of a generation where the blended cultures seem to create a new culture or lack thereof; hence, my interest in creating objects/sculptures comes from my search for cultural intersections found in this mixed world. Contrasts and opposites become the main subject in my art. Abstraction/figurative, narrative/minimal, sculpture/function, hard/soft, private/public and more are my inspiration. I see my work as a celebration of my existence and as a trademark of the time I live in. I strive to create works within the framework of this modern mix of fused cultures that I come from without forgetting my roots – vengo de papalotla, mariposa de obsidiana."
