Rachelle Dang
Brooklyn, NY
October – November 2018
Rachelle Dang is an artist based in Brooklyn, NY who through her work in sculpture and installation, she uncovers historical connections between places, people, and things. She remakes and transforms images and objects from the past to address critical questions and tensions in the present, particularly related to colonialism and its ecological legacy. Although her focus is the Pacific, particularly Tahiti and Hawaii, where her family has lived for six generations or longer, she aims to create works that are bridges connecting histories in cross-cultural, transoceanic ways.
Rachelle Dang was sponsored by Hunter College while her time spent here.
