Renee Ridgway
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Residency: September-October 2005
Project Description
“Seven years ago, I embarked on the Manhattan Project, a series of multimedia art exhibitions that focus on the similarities between the Netherlands and America. I investigate historical and contemporary issues, then deconstruct the information or experience to obtain new results and finally reconstruct it in presentation. Within this ongoing project, I have discovered a new identity (being an American who has lived for 12 years in the Netherlands) which was rooted in my Calvinistic upbringing and redefined by the overlappings between America and the Netherlands.” – Renee Ridgway
